Well the short answer is absolutely yes! (Scroll down to see lots of photos of a wide range of carriers being worn by men and women)

This question was asked in my shop today and came as quite a surprise to me. It hadn’t occurred to me that people would think of baby carriers as being specifically for men or for women.

While it’s true that different carriers suit different people – so it’s important to try out a few options to see which you like best – ALL the carriers sold on South East Slings’ website (and in my retail shop, Bambino Baby) are flexible and will fit a wide range of shapes and sizes of wearer as well as baby.
It’s perfectly possible for one carrier to fit, say, a 6’4″ rugby-player-build man and a 4’10” petite lady (and for there to be a choice of carriers that fit both people)

If you’re going to be sharing the carrier between parents, grandparents and other care-providers it can be handy for each of you to try out the carriers, to make sure you’re happy with how to use it and how it fits.
I generally recommend the people who are going to be carrying the most try the different options first – to see which they like best – then everyone else tries the preferred carrier to check they like it too.

If not everyone can be there to try on carriers – or if I’m helping you via video call – I’ve built up my expertise over the past 11 years and am pretty good at recommending which carrier is likely to fit different body shapes and sizes (as well as size of baby) based on description. This is especially handy when grandparents are buying a baby carrier as a gift!
If you’d like to find out more about baby carriers, feel free to drop into Bambino Baby during opening hours, or – if you prefer a pre-booked one-to-one, private appointment – these are available too – in your home, in the shop or via video call. Full details of consultations are here
